The recipient of the 2024 Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship is Fatimetou Mohameden from Brooklyn Community High School for Excellence & Equity.
An excerpt from Fatimetou’s essay: "Immigrating to a new country can be an incredible journey, but it is also accompanied by many challenges and adjustments. Adapting to a new culture, finding employment opportunities, and facing financial instability. One of the most difficult things is to learn a new language and get used to new customs but this is all part of building a new life. I know that this is just the beginning and the good days are coming and all of us know that the beginning is always difficult."
